Sound doesn't work in MPlayer! Remove --disable-alsa from the PKGBUILD and add alsa-lib as a dependency.

I have tested this and it compiles fine and fixes the problem.

Oh, and you have to select alsa9 in mplayer preferences because oss is selected by default. Can you change the default easily?

I am now getting some INET6 errors from mplayer though. unless you have any ideas to fix it then add --disable-inet6 to the configure in the PKGBUILD.

OK, I did manage to play one streamed wmv with my new build and with sound, but now it just seems to crash and freeze whatever I try to play. ??

OK I gave up on getting a new compile working and went back to the default one. As a work-around I managed to get OSS emulation working so I can have sound in MPlayer.

I followed the instructions at the bottom of the Arch install guide and on the ALSA website: http://www.alsa-project.org/~iwai/OSS-Emulation.html

Since arch doesn't use kmod I added the devices to my rc.conf too.

ALSA would be nicer, if you guys can get it to work.

I've already mentioned this in an another br, alsa support will be enabled in the next time i release it, not releasing it yet so you'll just have to hold it in =].

as for your problem Robert.. I'd suggest you temporerly remove inet6, compile mplayer, and install inet6 again as lots of --disable-XXXX don't work in mplayer (alsa included)

Okay, I'll just upgrade now, doesn't look like mplayer will have another release soon.. shame since cvs is 4x more stable and bugfix'ish than 1.0pre3 and below
