Description:
After upgrading to 4.8.* a lot of problems appeared: * lspci never returns after call, you can't even kill -9 the process anymore, calling it with strace shows that is hangs at a pread64... * when I attach/disconnect an external monitor via mini display port the system freezes * when I shutdown the system, the system freezes for multiple minutes, then displays some text, then freezes again * when I lock my screen (super + L) the system freezes as well All these freezes are non-recoverable. You have to power down the system. Rolling back to linux-4.7.6-1-x86_64 removes all the problems. Additional info: * linux-4.8.4-1-x86_64 This started with linux-4.8.2-1-x86_64, and still exists in linux-4.8.4-1-x86_64 Steps to reproduce: * Just attach / reattach external monitor via mini display port, or try to shutdown the system |

with gnome 3.22 wayland is the new default session...!!!
I'm on a Dell E7450, if I shutdown it takes a long time, I can see no logs.. after a while it just powers off, but I get weird status LEDs that I needed to decipher.
There are two statusses that I get:
One LED flashing Two LED On:
FLASH ON ON - CPU or processor failure
Two LED flashing One LED On:
FLASH FLASH On - Graphics card failure
(according to: http://www.matt-helps.com/dell_diagnostic_codes_during_post/)
I am using BSPWM, but occasionally I am on GNOME (wife uses laptop too). I also at random times experienced that my screen would not refresh except for when I move the mouse. This can only be worked around by rebooting. Both on Xorg
I ran lshw after downgrading to 4.7.6-1-ARCH again, does it matter?
Is this issue still valid?
For 4.8.* I don't know if this is still an issue
