What with KDE now supporting 0.10, Gnome (and every GStreamer-based media player I know of) having migrated, and Goobox appearing to be dead, it looks to me like it is time to retire 0.8. With everything using the newer (and vastly better) version, having 0.8 in the repos isn't exactly problematic, but it's hardly necessary.

Reason for closing:  Implemented
Additional comments about closing:  Removed gstreamer 0.8 from the repositories today:
- goobox removed, no development since 2005, goobox wasn't so special to keep 0.8 for
- kaffeine: removed gstreamer player part, xine-lib works also
- jamboree: immendio doesn't even list this project at their pages anymore, developers suggest using rhythmbox
- thoggen(community): 0.6 supports GST 0.10.

Let's delete glib and gtk also then, and while we're at it, remove libstdc++5 also, we need no compatibility. About those programs that break: they're dead anyways, let's remove them too.

Most of the programs that would break without libstdc++5 are not dead (KDE, epdfview, etc.), as far as I know, same for a lot of things that depend on glib and gtk. You have a point though.

Does that keeping a little longer hurt? You can simply ignore 0.8 by installing only gstreamer0.10, I think the name of package is a bit weird though.

gstreamer 0.8 will be named to the gstreamer 0.10 naming scheme in a while, so it doesn't confuse people with the common "gstreamer" name it has now.
