try setting in ControlPanel/Peripherals/Printers

the "Print system currently used" to "Generic UNIX LDP"

do you use CUPS?
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Thursday, 04 March 2004, 22:38 GMT
i use cups and this option doesn't help then ;-)
rather strange i can't print out a test page from the web interface nor from kde-control (error media tray empty which is not true)
but 2 days before it works
Comment by Damir Perisa (damir.perisa) - Thursday, 04 March 2004, 22:47 GMT
but if you cannot even print from the cups-webinterface, then this is not a kde-problem ... please change the title of this bug

2 days before? ... hmm ... did you upgrade any foomatic pkgs or something like this? (i searched the db and found, that foomatic-pkgs are updated on 2004-03-02 ... can this maybe be the start date of your problems?)
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Thursday, 04 March 2004, 22:54 GMT
oh yeah i tried another driver now it prints again from the web interface but kde is the same problem it hangs on print preview
and it cannot do print to ps nor pdf
i try older foomatic packages and tell you about it
Comment by Damir Perisa (damir.perisa) - Thursday, 04 March 2004, 22:57 GMT
try upgrading ghostscript and other related pkgs by hand (pacman -S ... and when asked to upgrade already uptodate-pkg, yes)
Comment by Damir Perisa (damir.perisa) - Thursday, 04 March 2004, 23:00 GMT
.. oh ... and try starting cups and the app that do not print right from console and watch the output (and post the errors, if you see any :-) )

it's gs, that makes problems ... maybe you can try reinstalling it: pacman -S ghostscript
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Thursday, 04 March 2004, 23:16 GMT
oh now it's alright i installed ghostscript again and now it works just fine
but i didn't do anything with ghostscript
with the last pacman -Syu something must went wrong
hm but now it's ok
perhaps some of the foomatic packages were defect
thank you for adding my cdrtools-package and your help
please close the bug
