When using plasma 5 with installed qt4 by dependency on kdegraphics-okular it causes plasma, dolphin, gwenview and others program to crash. Removing kdegraphics-okular, thus qt4 solves the problem. * qt4 4.8.7-9 * plasma-desktop 5.7.5-1 * kdegraphics-okular 16.08.1-1 Steps to reproduce: 1. Install plasma 5. 2. Run '/usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugins' as root

That solves the problem, thanks. Do you think this should be called upon installing qt4 phonon vlc plugin through hook?

There is already a hook that runs this upon installation of vlc plugins. phonon doesn't install any such plugin.
