Hello, the handwritten option requires the "Emerald" fonts (as described on the package homepage https://ctan.org/pkg/xcookybooky) which are non-free so we cannot package them.

You may choose to download them manually and install them in /usr/local/share/texmf.

See https://ctan.org/pkg/emerald

Regards,
Rémy.

I've contacted the author of the emerald TeX package.
The LaTeX bindings are under LPPL and therefor freely distributable, the fonts themselves don't seem to have a free license but are also freely distributable - as long as the .txt files (in the doc folder) are distributed alongside with them.

The "License that prevents distribution" seems to be an error of the CTAN team. I'm trying to get in touch with them to resolve this issue.
But the information regarding distributabillity are stated in the package itselve, so I don't see any problem with packaging it.

Regards,
Fabian
