Description:

After downgrading tevent (0.9.28-1) to enable smbd.service to start - related to another bug where tevent (0.9.29-2) was not allowing the latest version of Samba (4.5.0-2) to start, Nautilus is no longer able to process net usershare and shows the error "'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare add: cannot convert name "Everyone" to a SID. {Device Timeout} The specified I/O operation on %hs was not completed before the time-out period expired.."

Checked the syntax and the only section added to smb.conf was

usershare path = /var/lib/samba/usershare
usershare max shares = 100
usershare allow guests = yes
usershare owner only = yes

Under the [Global] section.

See attached smb.conf

Additional info:
* package version(s)

Samba 4.5.0-2 with tevent 0.9.28-1

* config and/or log files etc.

Attached smb.conf

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install the relevant version of Samba and ensure tevent is downgraded to 0.9.28-1
2. Add net usershare values under [Global] section in smb.conf and restart smbd.service (disable firewall if in doubt)
3. Launch Nautilus and right click and share a folder

Error will be shown.

This is likely a bug with nautilus share as i am able to create the net usershare directly from the cli.

Name : nautilus-share
Version : 0.7.3-7

Name : nautilus
Version : 3.20.3-1

These are the versions of nautilus-share and nautilus in question.

I think it should be either a configuration problem, or a bug in samba. Please ask help on the forum if you are not sure.
