I installed vbam-sdl today. On attempting to run it, I got the following:
vbam: error while loading shared libraries: libsfml-network.so.2.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I performed a system update with pacman -Syu, restarted my system and reinstalled both vbam-sdl and sfml. The error persisted.
My system is x86_64 and I'm not using any testing repositories or similar.
I ran a pacman -Ql sfml and it provides /usr/lib/libsfml-network.so.2.4, so it looks like some kind of version mismatch.

I'm far from a computer, but rebuild the affected package fix the problem?

No it does not, I'd have done it a long time ago if it did. I'm just tempted to drop it to AUR, I don't have time to fix the code, plus I mainly use mgba nowadays (via retroarch).
