Description:
using the latest versions of GDM an binary NVIDIA drivers I am not able to boot into a wayland GDM session. Consequently I'm not presented the option to login to a wayland session (only gnome (x11) and gnome-classic (x11) are offered). Additional info: * package version(s) gdm 3.20.1-2 nvidia 370.23-4 * config and/or log files etc. cat /etc/gdm/custom.conf # GDM configuration storage [daemon] # Uncoment the line below to force the login screen to use Xorg #WaylandEnable=false WaylandEnable=true [debug] # Uncomment the line below to turn on debugging Enable=true Steps to reproduce: reboot journalctl -u gdm: Sep 04 21:50:58 firebird gdm-launch-environment][508]: GdmSessionWorker: Set PAM environment variable: 'XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland' ... Sep 04 21:50:58 firebird gdm[481]: GdmSession: Emitting 'session-exited' signal with exit code '0' ... Sep 04 21:50:58 firebird gdm-launch-environment][610]: GdmSessionWorker: Set PAM environment variable: 'XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11' ... Additional Info from the weston log: [23:05:26.838] GL ES 2 renderer features: read-back format: RGBA wl_shm sub-image to texture: yes EGL Wayland extension: no Is "EGL Wayland extension: no" the critical info here? BTW. weston does run without problems - its just GDM not working with wayland. |
