Description:
See here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96450 The screen blacks out when modesetting happens and never comes back. This is a significant problem for me, since the lts version is now (for a while now) affected and it's the same on other distributions. I'm surprised that I haven't seen much else on the internet about this (see the two forum discussions linked on the above bug report). I know it's a relatively cheap laptop, but it's intel. I would have expected a lot more people out there to be using the same hardware and experiencing this problem. Additional info: * package version(s) 4.3.4 - 4.7.2 * config and/or log files etc. Unfortunately, as you can see at the freedesktop bug report, I don't know how to get the log info to save early. If someone could tell me how, I'd be happy to upload that. Steps to reproduce: Upgrade linux Restart computer |

have you tried a new system installation?
Can you share your hardware details, laptop model, bios/firmware version?
Do you have the latest bios/firmware version available for your laptop?
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 22b1 (rev 21)
which (from what I've internetted) is Cherryview/Braswell.
And yes, I have the latest BIOS update from Dell.
