Memtest as packaged with the official ArchLinux distribution image (the big one), as of version 2016.08.01, has at least two problems:

1) It's version 5.01, which is known to be buggy: https://www.google.com/search?q=memtest+5.01+freezes

2) It's available in the boot menu only if you boot in BIOS mode; there's no entry for in in the UEFI boot menu.

1. This is the latest version.
2. AFAIK, there is no UEFI version of Memtest86+. There is a version of Memtest, but I don't believe that's redistributable.

Oh, right, I missed the fact that there's the "original" and the "plus" version.
Still, the fact is that the program packaged in the ArchLinux ISO freezes on test 7 in multiprocessor mode. The latest version of MemTest86 (without the plus), 7.1, does not have that bug.
Moreover, MemTest86+ had its latest release in 2013, so it doesn't look like it's supported or developing any more.

As for the license, I found this page: http://www.memtest86.com/license.htm
It says: "MemTest86 Free Edition is free to download with no restrictions on usage"
"No restrictions on usage" sounds like you can do whatever you want.

"Restrictions on usage" is not the same as redistribution. All I've been able to find is "All rights reserved".

Okay. In that case, this task should probably be wontfix-ed.

I found the license on the disk image, attached it here. We may be OK redistributing it.

Another thing of note: the non-plus memtest also has a BIOS mode, but it loads version 4. Not sure how it compares to memtest+ 5.01 in terms of quality, or if we'd be allowed to redistribute only the UEFI part of non-plus memtest without the BIOS one.

Please open a bug against memtest+ package. If memtest can be packaged, then archiso releng profile will use it ;)
