DetailsThe fontdir set by xmkmf is /usr/lib/X11/fonts, as determined by /usr/lib/X11/config/X11.tmpl: #define FontDir $(LIBDIR)/fonts.
It appears that this should be overridden by a .def or .cf file to the correct system default of /usr/share/fonts. The bug is triggered by the AUR package sgi-fonts, which is built with xmkmf. The sgi-fonts PKGBUILD includes a sed workaround to hack the Makefile FONTDIR from /usr/lib/X11/fonts to /usr/share/fonts. If xmkmf would set the correct default system fontdir, the sed workaround would not be needed. |
