Install deadbeef package and then mpg123 opt-depends.
Expect to find option to select mpg123 backend.

This doesn't currently work. I suspect the build environment for this package was missing mpg123 headers and thus the makefile for deadbeef will not detect it and will disable support for mpg123.
Either remove mpg123 as opt-depends and hard disable this feature or rebuild it with mpg123 headers present.
I don't see mpg123 in make depends either.

Please replace libmad with mpg123 in makedeps. Without this change there's no way to play mp3 in deadbeef. For now I have to rebuild it myself from ABS.

I second the request to replace libmad with mpg123.
Libmad has not been updated in 15 years, while mpg123 was updated just last year.
