Rate limiting is enabled by default with bind 9.10.

DLZ databases seems disabled in all major distro, how can they be popular?

I'd also like to see support for --with-dlz-postgres

This has been part of the Bind software by default for a while now.

I'd like a chance to also add an answer to your question regarding if its "popular or not". It's not about being popular but useful.

Just wanted to add a quick note regarding my last comment now that I see this has been re-opened. Just an idea, perhaps make a separate package, IE: bind-dlz so not to affect any current configurations in the primary package.

I'm not interested in maintaining a split package with this feature and I would not pull postgresql or other database with the main package.
So, is enabling with dlz postgres could be done with an optional deps ?

Sure! :)

Right now I'm having to repackage and then install to get the support we are using of Bind with DLZ postgres

So, you say I can enable dlz-postgres and bind will run wihout issue on system without postgres lib installed?
If positive, I'll take a look.
