Gnucash 2.0.0 was just released and I would like to see an official package. For users it is _extremely_ difficult to get gnucash compiled correctly, and I personally do not trust some of the community packages (not for something like Gnucash). Hence, I make a feature request here.

BTW, any news on gnome-power-manager support? This is part of gnome, so I hope it is supported correctly soon. Thx.

as for gnome-power-manager, it's a 2.15 package, so will probably appear with 2.16. I'm using the PKGBUILD from the AUR in the meantime with no problems.

Any news on this?

well i really do not want to maintain it, gnome itself is more then enough for me.

Anyone else? Even the AUR packages are not maintained atm and gnucash doesn't work. There is some considerable patch work to be done in order to work on Arch, this is why I suggested that this should be the job of the distro rather than random contributors... Needed patches:

IIRC there once was a package for gnucash in current/extra, I remember it trying it out without having to compile or use custom packages. Anybody know what happened with that?

I'm about to close this bug, but I wanted to add a few closing comments:

Yes, the Community packages are unmaintained right now (WillySilly stepped down), but I don't consider the TU's "random contributors", and I don't see the difference between Community maintainers and official devs, besides that devs have more access to things.

We discussed making gnucash an official package, but no one has stepped up, and the people that would be most likely to maintain it (Gnome people) said they don't use it, and therefor aren't interested.
