DetailsDescription:
Since the update to freetype 2.6.4 I noticed that some fonts in firefox were rendered quite horribly, see attached screenshot. When zoomed in far enough the fonts are rendered correctly, but most common text sizes are affected. This also happens in luakit, so is independent of the browser I wish the new environment option was better documented. FS#49981and yes the only usefull setting is :
FT2_SUBPIXEL_HINTING=0
freetype2 archlinux package is patched ( 3 patchs ) and I wonder if it's normal ?
because in upstream version I don't see these 3 patchs, the culprit could be these patches :
https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk?h=packages/freetype2

but it is absolutely not my mood in my messages, I'm a very calm :)
for
FS#49987you consider it as a different issue, but these bugs could be triggered by the same root causefor
FS#49981I'm sad that you closed it with the mention "not a bug, just a configuration problem", but I respect your decision
