Description:

As far as gnome-session 3.20.1, an environment variable QT_QPA_PLATFORM theme is automatically set upon login. This variable alone was responsible for 'plug and play' up to Qt 5.7.

This was already fixed mainstream for gnome-session to acknowledge the solution of installing qt5ct + qt5styleplugins. I talked with Phil from Manjaro and he made a tree to apply the patch in their repos:
