There is no patch -something in the PKGBUILD but the source array includes a patch.
Is the patch not being applied?

You removed expat from testing without releasing a version that includes the patch.

@JGC: the patch is not needed as its applied in the 2.2.0 release. the faulty 2.2.0-2 was simply dropped from [testing] because of that.
