Copy/paste is broken with recent mc on terminals using gtk2 due to bug in vte (it encloses paste with 0~ ~). mc developer stated this is a bug in vte, which was already fixed in vte3+, but was not backported into unsupported 0.28.2 - https://www.midnight-commander.org/ticket/3645

Debian backported patch to vte 0.28.2:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vte/+bug/1350334

Actual patch:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/181065578/vte-0.28.2-5ubuntu1-bracketed_paste_mode_fix.patch

I reproduced this issue too. Is there any chance we can get this fixed?

Attached is a patch against vte 0.28.2-7 from abs that applies the Debian backport patch. I have run this without problems for about two tweeks.
