Description:

virt-manager with no parameters silently fails to start. Adding --debug shows this:

>(virt-manager:22072): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.virt-manager.virt-manager' is not installed
>zsh: trace trap (core dumped) virt-manager --debug

I got it working by running "glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas" as root. I took that from the post-install script.

Additional info:
* virt-manager 1.3.2-5
* virt-install 1.3.2-5

Test case:

pacman -R --noconfirm virt-install virt-manager > /dev/null
rm /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled
glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas
grep -q virt-manager /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled && echo "test 1 failed (sanity check)"
pacman -S --noconfirm virt-install virt-manager > /dev/null
grep -q virt-manager /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled || echo "test 2 failed (bug)"
glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas
grep -q virt-manager /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled || echo "test 3 failed (sanity check)"

What version of pacman? glib2?
Comment by dx (dx) - Sunday, 22 May 2016, 19:48 GMT
pacman 5.0.1-2
glib2 2.48.0-1

So the problem here is that your glib2 package is out of date. Partial updates are not supported.
