Mike,

Please try:

pacman -Sy
pacman -S evolution

if that fails, try:
pacman -S libbonoboui

and report back with your findings

Ok I got it to install now I get stranger errors when launching it..

(evolution:7181): libglade-WARNING **: Could not load support for `gnome': libgnome.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

(evolution:7181): libglade-WARNING **: unknown widget class 'GnomeDruid'

(evolution:7181): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GtkLabel' to `GnomeDruid'

(evolution:7181): GnomeUI-CRITICAL **: file gnome-druid.c: line 865 (gnome_druid_set_buttons_sensitive): assertion `GNOME_IS_DRUID (druid)' failed

(evolution:7181): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: gsignal.c:1893: signal `cancel' is invalid for instance `0x8113e98'

(evolution:7181): evolution-shell-CRITICAL **: file e-shell-startup-wizard.c: line 803 (e_shell_startup_wizard_create): assertion `data->start != NULL' failed

That's the message I get now...Do I need to start a new bug report for that?

That's a libglade error. Try:

pacman -S libglade
and
pacman -S libgnomeui

These messages don't happen to others, sure you aren't getting drive errors or forgetting to logout/login before reporting bugs?

I am pretty positive it's not driver errors..I even completely rebooted the pc just to check that aspect..

As for libglade and libgnomeui both are installed..

One thing to add this is installed in the Enlightenment windowmanager. I don't think that would be the cause but thought I would mention it. I'll test this on my desktop and see. Mainly just wanting to get evolution setup on my laptop since I will need the added features. I'll post back how the desktop goes.

ok just tried installing on my desktop in Enlightenment and I get the same errors. So I am going to assume since I get the same thing on 2 pc's that Evolution doesn't work in Enlightenment. I'll post my finding to my thread on the forums maybe someone else has come across this and found a work around. I do know Enlightenment does come with gnome support built in so I assumed it would work since other gnome/gtk packages work.

Mike,

try:

source /etc/profile.d/gnome.sh

before running evolution.

If you don't have that file, make sure gnome-common is installed.

I found the prob Blaasvis posted it on my thread at ...

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=2976

in order for evolution to load it needs gnome-common

After reading his post I installed that package and evolution loaded like a champ.

That might need to be added as a dependency of evloution. Thanks for all your help.

gnome-common will be listed as a dep for the next version.
