Description:
When upgrading, the file /etc/pdnsd.conf gets deleted. As a consequence, pdnsd no more works and network connection fails.

May 18 21:34:19 xxx systemd[1]: pdnsd.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
May 18 21:34:19 xxx systemd[1]: pdnsd.service: Unit entered failed state.

May 18 21:34:19 xxx pdnsd[619]: Error: Could not open config file /etc/pdnsd.conf: No such file or directory

On my machine, the file was not outright deleted but kept as a pacsave (due to it being modified).

Yes, default config was moved to usr/share/doc/pdnsd/pdnsd.conf
You need to return .pacsave back or copy default one from usr/share/doc/pdnsd/

Ah, that explains it, thanks. I would expect a scriptlet printing out a message explaining this upon package upgrade, though.
