DetailsCurrently lldpd information (via lldpctl or lldpcli) is only accessible to root, although the information it manages is not secret – e.g. both networkd and NetworkManager expose the received LLDP information to all users.
For convenience, either /usr/bin/lldpcli should have u+s set (as Debian does), or /run/lldpd should be world-accessible. Debian also has a setuid lldpcli, and the interactive mode seems to be designed with this in mind (only root can use 'configure'). |

This is how "make install" installs it. I would suggest talking to upstream.
