Many packages contained in extra and community repos have absolute icon path in their respective .desktop file
nvidia-340xx-utils or nmap (zenmap.desktop) are some examples.
This behaviour avoids an uniform theming with many of the themes loaded on official repos and on AUR.

Solutions proposed:
using only the icon name in order to automatically refer to icons under /usr/share/pixmaps or /usr/share/icons preventing mistakes and non-uniform theming

For packages whose .desktop is provided by Arch Linux packager, should open a ticket for it here, one per packages.
For packages whose .desktop is provided by Upstream, should report to upstream bugtracker or any other contact via.

Both packages cited as exampled, are upstream issues. There is nothing to do here.

I don't agree on that. Desktop files can be changed easily, there's no reason why you shouldn't fix them.

While I agree, JGC, a report that just says "many packages" doesn't do anything.
