What's the point? It has no functionality beyond launching "gpaste-client ui".

"gpaste-client ui" is for the GUI application, whereas the command "gpaste-client applet" provides an applet that's always visible.

From the README:

> A simple CLI interface is provided: gpaste-client, with three subcommands: gpaste-client ui which makes the graphical tool pop, gpaste-client applet which starts the status icon in your notification area

> If you also want to build the status icon, you'll have to pass --enable-applet to configure.

The status icon can only launch the UI.

It's convenient, and makes gpaste a drop-in replacement for parcellite.

No, the applet can only launch the UI.

I'd find it useful. Would you accept a patch?

If you want to launch the UI from your panel, add a launcher or build GPaste yourself.
