Description:
The install image lacks large raster fonts, like the ones provided by the package community/terminus-font. This makes the install process very hard until one manages to connect to the internet to install terminus-font and selects a large font (e.g. ter-u32n) on the live system.

Additional info:
* Arch Linux image 2016.04.01

Steps to reproduce:
* Burn the Arch image to a CD or USB stick.
* Boot it on a device with high DPI display (e.g. 15" 4K).
* Look at fonts.

Proposed solution:
Please add any big raster font to the install image.
This task depends upon

Additional comments about closing:  Please reopen, when font package does not depend anymore in xorg and related pkgs.

See last comment to use alternative font (latarcyrheb-sun32.psfu.gz)

any other font? because pulls xorg related pkgs and other things...

Yeah, I've noticed terminus-font pulls in xorg, because it also installs xorg versions of the Terminus font, but maybe the package can be split? It's a plain raster font that works without xorg just fine. I personally don't know of other big raster fonts.

Open a feature request to ask about split ;)

There will be little reason for a font package to pull in dependencies once hooks are in place. May be easier to just wait for that.

I get this problem with my 1388x768 14' and visual problems, I ended using a magnifying glass to read the font.

@Scimmia but the deppendency need to exist because that ensure the hook can run.

I think either splith the package or add a new big consolefont for that case.

That's actually a debate right now. Why would a font package care if a hook was run? The package that uses the resulting database would care, but the fonts don't.

@Scimmia yeah I'm reading, just don't forget raise the case when a program not use the cache-rebuild-program not in runtime not in dep not in build but need the font/icon to be already cached-rebuild anyway and the tool that do that is not pulled by lack of dep.

an now to the font issue, we not need to use terminus, just need to add Any raster font that meet the request, terminus is just the one that OP know, the minimal requested is just a font to be used with the install, so we can start looking other options in internet or the AUR. Do you know another font that do what is need in the bug?

There is "latarcyrheb-sun32.psfu.gz" font which comes with kbd. It isn't very pretty but it is already on the ISO.
