Is this a regression?

Yes, this was a regression. I reported this upstream and I have a patch in that thread which fixes the bug for me, although it feels more like a workaround than a proper fix.

I'm still facing this problem using gnome shell 3.22.2. When I log in, I have to restart gnome-shell or launch gnome-terminal to restore the proper size of the cursor on any part of the screen. It looks a race condition problem (maybe of dconf?).

I do not have this issue on current gnome-shell (3.34.1), so I assume it was fixed upstream
Can we close this bug?
