Details
MPlayer can be built against a system-wide installation of
FFmpeg. Its various libraries can be switched off
separately, however a catch-all configure option
(--enable-system-ffmpeg) seems to be available according to
this mailing list thread:
https://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-dev-eng/2010-August/065853.html In addition to reducing bloat, this would prevent critical FFmpeg bugs from having to be attended to twice (such as in https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/47944). |
