DetailsAs Arch Linux users, who want to use bleeding-edge software, I think many of us want to use mainline kernel. But installing it from AUR is very time-consuming and not pleasant. Also new hardwares often make trouble when not using the latest mainline kernel. For example I have a Skylake laptop and my dmesg has lots of errors coming from Intel graphics driver and some other kernel parts. I think some of my problems will be solved when the new stable kernel is released. But later when a new chipset, GPU etc. is released, probably it will also have some problems with the stable kernel. This is inevitable.
In summary, it would be very good for lots of users to have the mainline kernel in the repos. |
