Hi!
I have intel i915 grapgics card.
When I play a video in vlc, ram usability goes very high and system feezes, so I have to force shutdown system by power button.

I haven't any problem with other players like mplayer. After update vlc around one months ago, I have this problem.

I downgrade to vlc-2.2.1-9 and I have this bug, too.

I reported another issue and unfortunately didn't get any response:
 FS#47950  - [libreoffice-fresh] Insert video crash

I assume this happens only if video output in vlc is set to VDPAU output.

Removing or downgrading libvdpau-va-gl to 0.3.5 should solve the issue. In both cases vlc won't use VDPAU output any longer. (The latter might be a bug of libvdpau-va-gl.)

Thanks!
Both removing and downgrading to 0.3.5 solved my problem.

Please report this upstream

How about just setting VLC to use va-api instead of vdpau, which isn't really supported on Intel.

Still, it shouldn't crash. And if it didn't in 0.3.5, it's a regression that needs to be reported
