I am *extremely* sorry, I accidentally hit submit before finishing. FWIW, what I was trying to say is the icon is installed as '/usr/share/pixmaps/transmission-qt.png' and should thus be specified as 'transmission-qt' in the .desktop file in order to be recognised. This is in package version 2.91-1.

The current desktop file seems to point to the icons included in transmission-gtk (which are located at usr/share/icons/hicolor/*/apps/transmission.png), but these files are not included with the qt package.

I had to rename the transmission icon name in the *.desktop file to transmission-qt. Please fix the filename in the desktop file from transmission to transmission-qt.
