The hwids package uses https://github.com/gentoo/hwids as upstream which looks rather stale.
I'd prefer a simple PKGBUILD using the update-{pci,usb)ids scripts with a regular (monthly for example) update schedule.

There's also https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/hwdata.git/tree , maybe it's less stale?

But please fix the missing pnp IDs at the same time - issue 52397 I'm not sure what the proper upstream source is for it, though.

Gentoo repos isn't that stale anymore and pnp.ids implemented.
