DetailsDescription:
bitlbee.service will run bitlbee as root even though this package creates a bitlbee user/group. Running as root is unnecessary and bitlbee will only complain with "BitlBee is running with root privileges. Why?" Additional info: bitlbee 3.4.1-1 Solution: Set correct user/group under [Service] [Service] User=bitlbee Group=bitlbee ExecStart=/usr/bin/bitlbee -F -n Notes: If bitlbee complains about being unable to write to .pid in /run/bitlbee after applying solution, then stop bitlbee and sudo rm -f /run/bitlbee/bitlbee.pid because it is lingering from when bitlbee was ran as root and now needs to write a new pid using bitlbee user permissions. |
