I can confirm that this patch fixes issues with various apps.

I have had this issue for:
1. gimp (sporadically)
2. shutter (all the time)
3. kicad
4. gedit
5. and probably other things I have forgot

Rebuilding the gtk-engine-murrine package with this patch fixes the issue. A workaround was to run the apps with cairo-trace appname.

Is there any chance we can patch the archlinux package with this?

Also note this comment about the fix, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk2-engines-murrine/+bug/1294699/comments/17

In the launchpad issue is mentioned this meta patch with a small description: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/265151655/murrine-ubuntu-debdiff

Any movement on this? I've just installed MATE + gtk-engine-murrine (which is needed for most of MATE's themes apparently) and now I cannot open half of MATE's control panel programs, they crash instantly with a core-dump.

This bug caused me a lot of issues. Any chance this patch could be applied?
As a workaround, is there any way I can apply it on my system somehow?
