DetailsAt the same (supposed) sizes, fonts rendered in Firefox by XFT and by Pango look completely different. Observe:
A Wikipedia entry with Pango. http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/714/screen16il.png The same Wikipedia entry with XFT. http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/4575/screen21lb.png Note that I have the font sizes, etc. set exactly the same in these screenshots. The only difference is Pango vs. XFT. |

Be sure to set your DPI size correctly. Pango and XFT use different settings for this. Use xdpyinfo to find out about the resolution reported by X. Another option is to specify a DPI setting in firefox instead of letting it find out by itself.

Alright it's 98 x 108 dots per inch... What do I set my DPI to? And is there a way to set in xorg.conf?

You can set it using the "DisplaySize" option in the same section where you can set the HorizSync and VertRefresh options for your screen. Some drivers allow specification in the display driver section too, it depends on your videocard.
