Actually, it looks like make install, is installing most of the scripts. Just not rescan-scsi-bus.sh. A change as simple as the one in the attached PKGBUILD would make my life a bit easier.

Please convince upstream to package it by default

Upstream issue: https://github.com/hreinecke/sg3_utils/issues/19

They've acknowledged the problem and sounds like they will fix it, but not yet fixed at the time of writing.

Upstream issue was closed on 2017-10-13. But it seems that this hasn't arrived yet in Arch's sg3_utils 1.42-1 (which was updated 2016-03-06). Would it be possible to get 1.43 which was released 2018-02-08 [1]?

Edit: just flagged this package out of date.

There is no 1.43. The release was tagged when the version number was bumped and changelog is updated with 1.43 version on every change.

I could package a git snapshot though.

Oh. Hadn't noticed that. Not sure if a git snapshot would cause confusion, though.

For anyone landing here searching for rescan-scsi-bus.sh I'd recommend going to [1] (the tool's author's website), downloading the current version and extract the script manually. Put it into /root/bin and include that into your PATH variable. That way, once 1.43 will be release you won't face problems with the update.
