Description:
When starting nvidia-settings in a terminal, one can see the following output: > ERROR: nvidia-settings could not find the registry key file. This file should > have been installed along with this driver at either > /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-361.18-key-documentation > or /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-key-documentation. The > application profiles will continue to work, but values cannot be > prepopulated or validated, and will not be listed in the help text. > Please see the README for possible values and descriptions. This doesn't seem to affect the application's functionality other than what the error message describes. I understand the nvidia-settings program has been split off from the nvidia-utils package into its own separate package. Sorry, never mind, it's generating the filename using the loaded
nvidia driver's version, so you need to reboot (thus loading the
matching driver) to make the message go away.
