A little while ago there was a furor around Libreoffice not working too well with GTK3. The problem was pretty serious at the time but if I recall correctly mostly ended up being a problem with the GTK3 packages being compiled wrong. Certainly the last version of libreoffice compiled with the GTK3 plugin works fine on all the Arch systems, albeit with a version of libicu from AUR. Since the time when this bug came up and now both the GTK3 packages and also the GTK3 plugin within libreoffice have seen updates so I think that it might be time to re-add the GTK3 support. That's not to say drop GTK2 support (unless it really is a choice between one or the other) but add it back so that users can make use of it, preferable by default but at least have the option. |
