Description:

For some time, (after a gsfont update?) xfig cannot resize the fonts in the figures correctly.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
ver>=3.2.5

Steps to reproduce:

Produce a figure with text, then zoom or resize the text.

Steps to solve the problem:

This problem bugged me for years. It is very annoying as xfig is one of the most cleared-out drawing program I have ever seen.

So, the solution is very easy:
put a symlink in /usr/share/fonts/X11/ to /usr/share/fonts/110dpi and/or /usr/share/fonts/75dpi

or

delete the /usr/share/fonts/X11 folder (I had this folder but pacman could not tell me which package made it, no package owns it)

Please put the symlinks into some packages or delete the folder with some script.

Yours Sincerely,
Lóránt Farkas

Hi,

Do you mean the fonts dont enlarge in the exported eps files or in the GUI of xfig ? I am facing the latter. Would your solution work for my case? I am sorry but I am new to linux. I wanted to file a new bug erport, but before I do, I wanted to make sure if my problem already has a solution in Arch forums or bug reports.

Thanks

AG

I could not reproduce the fix but installing the gsfonts-type1 package from AUR and removing the gsfonts package (they are in conflict) solves the problem. You need to restart X or simply:

xset +fp /usr/share/fonts/Type1
xset fp rehash

and restart xfig.
