What do you need these features for?

I guess icu and json1 will require some more dependencies. That could be a problem for a pkg that belongs to the core repo.

I agree with you about icu and json1. But I think the fts5 extension should be enabled.

Sqlite 3.10.1-2 in testing has FTS5 and JSON1 extension enabled. Please test it.

Icu extension breaks build and would require further fixing and introduce a new dependency we don't want in core (check Gentoo ebuild).
So we won't build and ship the icu extension for now.
