Description:

Dmesg error found for my wireless card (Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300). It could be a misconfiguration in the kernel. I found the error message because archlinux had a significant slower wifi connection than Windows 10 (same laptop) in a weak Wifi environment (a hotel wifi, I do not have that environment to test now). So I searched through dmesg and found this.

iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-6000-6.ucode failed with error -2
iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-6000-5.ucode failed with error -2
iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version 9.221.4.1 build 25532 op_mode iwldvm

I find a similar report here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/46197

I am not sure if my case is a normal kernel driver loading procedure or not. My kernel is 4.3.3-2-ARCH.

Attached is the full dmesg.

That's because those firmwares don't exist in the package, or even in the upstream repo

Edit: And if you'll notice, it does succeed in loading the firmware. It just tries some others first.
