Description:
The kernel up to 4.4 (git) has a bug with SMR hard disk drives,
e.g. the 8tb Seagate Archive v2. I experienced this bug myself,
but this bugreport describes it better then I can:

It would be great to see this fixed in the kernel package, a fix can be found in comment 67:

The bug is fixed in mainline kernel version 4.4:
