Description:

When reading l10n information, Eric IDE will *NOT* read currently installed "/usr/share/qt/translations/eric6_zh_CN.GB2312.qm".
So no translation will show up after installation.

Solution:

Rename "/usr/share/qt/translations/eric6_zh_CN.GB2312.qm" to "/usr/share/qt/translations/eric6_zh_CN.qm" and everything is fine.

I really don't think that it is an upstream bug. Maybe such filename will work fine under Windows, because Windows using Simplified Chinese nowadays is still using GB2312/GBK.

Additional info:

The terminal output is:

-> % eric6
Warning: translation file 'eric6_zh_CN'could not be loaded.
Using default.
BackgroundService listening on: 36746

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install "eric-i18n-zh_cn" from [community].
2. Switch your locale to zh_CN.UTF-8 (which is the de facto standard locale for zh_CN users)
3. Install some fonts that can show Chinese characters (optional)
4. Open Eric IDE, and everything is not translated at all.
