Description:
offlineimap -u blinkenlights stopped working some time ago. It only shows one line of output (besides the header and footer). With 6.5.7 it worked for a time, and then I think I performed an ncurses update. Originally, blinkenlights caused considerable flicker when executing, and I have been forced to use the basic UI of offlineimap. See here for my BBS post, with some hopefully demonstrative GIFs: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=204255 With 6.6.1 it's marginally better, the header and output text no longer flickers, but only one line of actual output is displayed at a time. I expect to see all lines of output as offlineimap executes. Here's the output I expect to see in the blinkenlights UI (taken from a run of the basic UI): OfflineIMAP 6.6.1 Licensed under the GNU GPL v2 or any later version (with an OpenSSL exception) *** Processing account home Establishing connection to imap.gmail.com:993 Syncing [Gmail]/Drafts: Gmail -> Maildir Syncing INBOX: Gmail -> Maildir Copy message 63681 (1 of 2) home-remote:INBOX -> home-local Copy message 63682 (2 of 2) home-remote:INBOX -> home-local Syncing [Gmail]/Sent Mail: Gmail -> Maildir Syncing [Gmail]/All Mail: Gmail -> Maildir Copy message 463117 (1 of 2) home-remote:[Gmail]/All Mail -> home-local Copy message 463118 (2 of 2) home-remote:[Gmail]/All Mail -> home-local Deleting 9 messages (463095:463102,463107) in Maildir[archive] Deleting flag S from 8 messages on archive Calling hook: notmuch new Hook stdout: Processed 12 total files in 1s (9 files/sec.). Added 2 new messages to the database. Detected 17 file renames. Hook stderr: Hook return code: 0 *** Finished account 'home' in 1:36 With blinkenlights, only one line of that output is shown at a time, which is less useful. I prefer blinkenlights to basic (or any other UI I've tried) because the color confers information that is lost in the basic UI. I'm running offlineimap 6.6.1 on OS X using iTerm2, and the problem does not occur. The problem does occur in iTerm2 when I SSH into my Arch system, so I don't believe it to be terminal related. Both rxvt-unicode-256color and terminology exhibit the same problem on Arch. Additional info: * package version: 6.6.1-2 * config and/or trace: attached redacted .offlineimaprc, and a gdb trace (which doesn't look very useful to me) * running offlineimap in tmux, attaching tmux configuration, but running it outside of tmux exhibits the same behavior Steps to reproduce: Run: offlineimap -u blinkenlights |

Have you reported this upstream?
Not yet, I'll have to do that tomorrow (if I get a chance).
Upstream issue tracked under
https://github.com/OfflineIMAP/offlineimap/issues/290
It appears upstream has removed the blinkenlights option
altogether. It no longer exists on OS X and Arch, from what I can
tell.
