step to reproduce:
X freezes and kernel crashes immediately when starting X (with startxfce4) with xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+519+g8229390-1 and linux 4.3.3-2.

machine:
thinkpad X240 with 5500 Intel HD graphic card:
# lspci | grep Graph
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics (rev 09)

configuration:
passing the option i915.enable_execlists=0 at boot time (as suggested in the arch-wiki) does not fix it.

fix:
downgrade to linux 4.2.5-1 fix this.

Reporting kernel bugs here isn't going to do much. They need to go upstream.

Ok, but I'm not sure about who is upstream: linux or xf86-video-intel (xorg)?
