DetailsI think it's pointless to add notification-daemon as optional dependency to packages, because major desktop environments have an internal notification server, which cannot be replaced. Other notification servers may or may not have a D-Bus service file for activation. [1]
All applications should work even if notification server is unavailable on the system (if not, then report to upstream), so please remove notification-daemon from optdepends in the following packages: - gajim - ibamtray - pidgin-libnotify - pragha - transmission-gtk - udiskie - wammu - wicd-gtk [1] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Desktop_notifications#Notification_servers |

And all applications should be fully functional, if the notification server is unavailable. I think it's just an optional desktop feature.
