Description:
The /usr/share/applications/geany.desktop file does not contain the MIME types as they are specified by the upstream.

The package build script strips them out [1] to address  FS#10318  [2]. It seems like that issue should be handled by users or administrators changing their default mime-type associations with xdg rather than deleting any hint that Geany is a text editor.

Thanks for reporting. I agree that the mimetypes should not be stripped out, but I will have to check around a bit to make sure I'm not reintroducing an annoyance.

Andrea Scarpino, would you mind if the mimetypes were added again?
It is closer to what upstream is offering.

Got no response. Updating the package to not change the default mimetype. The updated package will appear in [community] shortly.
