Unable to use KVM. The module has been loaded.

Lowering the amount of RAM to under ~2GB tends to "fix" it.

Can you try the kernel patch that they're talking about in that issue?

Haven't tried it yet, assuming it works though.

I think there's a lot that's changed between 4.2.6 and 4.4-rc1, might be worth it to just wait until the patch gets back-ported to the stable tree.

Could the title be changed to "Cannot start QEMU with OVMF"? Thanks.
