Description:
Switching from another tty to gdm makes the system crash, so that it doesn't respond to any input. It does not matter whether you use Ctrl+Alt+F1 or the logout-button of your desktop environment. This happens with Cinnamon, OpenBox and at least for me also with Gnome, although it might not always happen with Gnome. Desktop managers other than gdm seem to work properly (not tested by me). I'm sure that one of these package updates broke it: gtk-update-icon-cache 3.18.4-1 (still happens with 3.18.5-1) gtk3 3.18.4-1 (still happens with 3.18.5-1) gnome-shell 3.18.2-1 mutter 3.18.2-1 The issue has been confirmed by others on the forum: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=205035 Additional info: * package versions See above, plus: cinnamon 2.6.13-3 gdm 3.18.0-1 Steps to reproduce: - Install gdm and Cinnamon - Use gdm to login to Cinnamon - Log off again and see the system freeze |
This task depends upon
gnome-shell 3.18.3-1
gdm 3.18.2-1
libgdm 3.18.2-1
didn't change anything about the issue.
FS#46835after logout the screen turns black, but I can connect via SSH and restart via magic keys.
Since disabling Wayland it works fine again.
FS#46835.
