Description:
Upgrading to alsa-lib and alsa-plugins 1.1.0-1 breaks the ability to play Youtube videos (in Firefox and Google Chrome), as well as streaming Netflix (Google-Chrome). Downgrading to verson 1.0.29-1 (and 1.0.29-2, respectively) fixes the issue, hence the problem seeming to lie with the currently packaged 1.1.0 alsa versions. Additional info: affected package version(s) alsa-lib-1.1.0-1 i686, alsa-plugins-1.1.0-1 i686 Relevant pacman log section: [2015-11-17 09:54] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -Syu' [2015-11-17 09:54] [PACMAN] synchronizing package lists [2015-11-17 09:54] [PACMAN] starting full system upgrade [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] transaction started [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded alsa-lib (1.0.29-1 -> 1.1.0-1) [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded alsa-plugins (1.0.29-2 -> 1.1.0-1) [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded libpng (1.6.18-1 -> 1.6.19-1) [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded gtk-update-icon-cache (3.18.4-1 -> 3.18.5-1) [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded pam (1.2.1-2 -> 1.2.1-3) [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded gtk3 (3.18.4-1 -> 3.18.5-1) [2015-11-17 09:54] [ALPM] upgraded taglib (1.9.1-1 -> 1.10-1) [2015-11-17 09:55] [ALPM] transaction completed [2015-11-17 10:32] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -U alsa-lib-1.0.29-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz' [2015-11-17 10:32] [ALPM] transaction started [2015-11-17 10:33] [ALPM] downgraded alsa-lib (1.1.0-1 -> 1.0.29-1) [2015-11-17 10:33] [ALPM] transaction completed [2015-11-17 10:33] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -U alsa-plugins-1.0.29-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz' [2015-11-17 10:33] [ALPM] transaction started [2015-11-17 10:33] [ALPM] downgraded alsa-plugins (1.1.0-1 -> 1.0.29-2) [2015-11-17 10:33] [ALPM] transaction completed Steps to reproduce: In my case upgrading to 1.1.0-1 (through a normal pacman -Syu) broke the playing of videos and downgrading to the previous version fixed the issue. |

To be clear, after downgrading nothing needed restarting, but after upgrading again it did. If it has something to do with pulse then it's still specific to alsa 1.1.0.
